Dr. İrem Demirkan lisans derecesini 2000 yılında Boğaziçi Üniversitesi İktisat bölümünden, yüksek lisans derecesini 2006 yılında Amerika Birlesik Devletleri’nde The University of Texas at Dallas Üniversitesi Yönetim ve İdari Bilimler alanından aldıktan sonra, doktora derecesini 2007 yılında aynı üniversitenin Uluslararası Yönetim Çalışmaları ve Stratejik Yönetim alanında almıştır. Akademisyen olarak değişik sektörlerle alakalı girişimcilik, stratejik yönetim ve uluslararası yönetim üzerine hizmet vermiştir. Dr. Demirkan’ın araştırmaları yenilik (innovation)stratejileri, örgüt ağları, üst yönetim davranışları ve blockchain teknolojilerinin yönetim üzerindeki etkilerine yoğunlaşmıştır. Dr. Demirkan Management Science, Journal of Management, Journal of Business Research, IEEE-Transactions on Engineering Management, Group Decision and Negotiation, R&D Management gibi saygın, Q1 ve FT-50 listelerindeki uluslararası yönetim dergilerinde makaleler yayımlamıştır.
