Scientific Preparation Program
Students who hold a bachelor's degree in a major other than Psychology or Business Administration are required to attend a scientific preparation (SP) program, which lasts for a maximum of two semesters, before they can matriculate at their master’s program in order to be fully prepared for graduate studies.
The purpose of the courses taken in the SP Program is to provide students with the necessary academic foundation before they start their programs. To that end, the SP program is made up of core area courses of the psychology curriculum, in particular the research method and statistics courses. The SP program is tailored exclusively for each student by by the student’s academic advisor and/or program coordinator, reviewing their undergraduate transcripts to include complementary courses specific to each student.
The language of instruction is English.
In case of students who hold a bachelor’s degree in a major other than Psychology, the courses the student must take in the Scientific Preparation Program to be fully prepared for their graduate studies, and the maximum number of semesters in which these courses must be completed are determined upon the recommendations of the Program Coordinators and the Department Head, and concluded by the respective Graduate School Executive Board (GSEB).
Recommended courses must be completed in the Scientific Preparation Program before matriculating in the master’s program.
The maximum period of study in the Scientific Preparation Program is two semesters. Summer sessions are not included in this period. The maximum period of study cannot be extended unless it is for semester breaks/leaves of absences. Failure to complete the Scientific Preparation Program by the end of the maximum period of study will result in expulsion. Semesters spent in the scientific preparation program do not count toward the maximum period of study of the respective master’s or Ph.D. program.
Students are recommended to complete a minimum of 24 credits and a maximum of 36 credits, respectively, in the Scientific Preparation Program.
Students who are unable to complete the courses offered in the Scientific Preparation Program with at least a C Grade within its maximum period of study are expelled from the University in the following semester with the resolution of the respective GSEB.
Courses are held on weekdays from 08:40 to 18:30.
Per credit tuition is charged for the Scientific Preparation Program.
The student who completes the Scientific Preparation Program begins paying the tuition fee of the program, starting from the semester in which s/he advances to the master’s program.
Scholarships are not available for the Scientific Preparation Program.
